Jim RobinsonWelcome!

My name is Jim Robinson and I am a professional Web Developer and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Specialist living in Suburban Maryland between Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD. I began working on the internet in 2000 as an eBay seller to make extra money while in school studying electrical engineering. By the time I graduated in 2001, I had several profitable websites and became so engrossed in my work as an internet entreprenuer that I made it a full-time career. From the very beginning, I have done my own work, in-house, constantly developing new skills to enhance websites and grow professionally. In this regard, I have worked as a web designer, web developer, database designer, web programmer, independent Internet consultant, online marketing consultant, search engine optimization specialist, and server administrator, in addition to the many business management responsibilities involved with independently owning and operating a $600,000 per year home-based retail business.

Prior to working as a web professional and beginning school at Tennessee Technological University in 1996, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and worked as an administrative assistant for the U.S. Second Fleet Commander embarked on USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20). It was in this position that I developed excellent communications skills as an assistant Flag Writer, writing numerous award citations, official correspondence, and officer fitness reports. I later capitalized on the leadership skills I developed in the military by working as a construction superintendent, managing five labor crews in projects around the Washington Metropolitan area.

In 2005 I made the difficult decision to sell my main business asset, BagsForMe.com, so that I could take time to travel and contemplate my next career move. During the months since I sold that site, I have delved deeply into advanced SEO techniques, Web 2.0 CMS applications, and I have become proficient in customizing and extending open source applications such as Wordpress and Drupal. I am currently seeking employment as a Search Engine Optimization Specialist or Web Developer where I might have the opportunity to develop exciting new websites, refine my skills in server side scripting languages and open source applications, and develop new skills in up-and-coming open source frameworks, such as Ruby on Rails.
